Chapter 3 Intelligence of Medical Laboratories
Section 4 Intelligent Management Systems of Medical Laboratories
The development of medical laboratory management systems has progressed from the earliest manual workshop-style testing, to automated laboratories, then to informatized laboratories, and has now reached a new milestone for laboratories—the intelligent laboratory.

II. Intelligent Management Requirements
1. Pre-analytical Phase
1.1 Assisting Clinical Orders with Intelligent Test-Item Recommendation

1.2 Integrated Specimen-Flow Automation, Effectively Shortening TAT
- Intelligent blood collection, helping reduce the occurrence of errors
- Dedicated automated specimen transport, significantly shortening TAT
- Flexible and rich automation interfaces that can connect directly to sorting machines and track automation to build "one-touch automation"
- First in, first out, with specimen-flow management precise down to the individual specimen

3.2 Clinical Decision Support
Laboratory testing personnel: Based on the clinician's preliminary diagnosis and the operating status of the instruments, the "expert system" of the middleware software flags items whose test results are inconsistent with the clinical diagnosis, reviews the results, and decides whether to issue the test report.
