Clean Operating Department of the First People’s Hospital of Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province
I. Project Overview
The new inpatient building complex has a floor area of 45 000m² and 18 stories. The technical mezzanine is located above the fourth floor. The clean operating department is located on the third and fourth floors of the inpatient building complex, with a floor area of 1 998m². The operating department has a total of 22 clean operating rooms, including 2 Class 100 rooms, 5 Class 10 000 rooms, 6 Class 100 000 rooms, and 9 Class 300 000 rooms. It was put into use on December 25, 2002.
II. Floor Plan Layout
The floor plan of the clean operating department is of the peripheral recovery type. The design concept of this plan type proceeds from the notion of infection prevention, in which the handling of post-operatively contaminated items is the most important consideration. The design features of this floor plan are:
(1) Before and after operations, medical staff, patients, sterile instruments, and the corresponding auxiliary supplies enter and exit via the central clean corridor, while post-operative waste is transported out via the peripheral corridor, thereby achieving the separation of clean and soiled flows.
(2) The operating department has complete functional rooms and a rational workflow; the operating area, office area, and auxiliary room area are relatively concentrated, which facilitates management and makes operation convenient.
(3) In terms of the decorative structure of the operating rooms, large arc transitions are adopted between wall and wall and between wall and ceiling, eliminating airflow dead zones and favoring the organization of clean airflow. The wall material is a metal material that does not rust in itself, has a long service life, and provides fairly good electromagnetic shielding.
The clean operating department is arranged on two floors. The fourth floor houses 13 operating rooms, among which OP10 and OP13 are Class 100 operating rooms, and OP7, OP8, OP9, OP11, and OP12 are Class 10 000 operating rooms. The third floor houses 9 Class 300 000 operating rooms and a changing and shoe-changing area.
III. Air-Conditioning and Purification System
(1) There are two Class Ⅰ operating rooms, each equipped with one medical hygienic-type unit, with air supplied by a static pressure air supply device; among them, OP13 shares a unit with the Class 100000 extracorporeal circulation room.
(2) There are 5 Class Ⅱ operating rooms, each equipped with one medical hygienic-type purification air-conditioning unit, with air supplied by a static pressure air supply device.
(3) For Class Ⅲ operating rooms, every 3 rooms share one medical hygienic-type purification air-conditioning unit, with air supplied by a static pressure air supply device.
(4) There are 9 Class Ⅳ operating rooms, which use a total of two medical hygienic-type purification air-conditioning units, with air supplied through HEPA supply outlets. Among them, 4 operating rooms use one medical hygienic-type purification air-conditioning unit, and the other 5 operating rooms use one medical hygienic-type purification air-conditioning unit.
(5) The Class 100 000 clean corridor and auxiliary rooms are supplied with air by zones, using HEPA supply outlets, with one medical hygienic-type unit for each zone.
(6) The Class 300 000 clean corridor and auxiliary rooms are supplied with air by zones, using HEPA supply outlets, with one medical hygienic-type unit for each zone.
(7) Non-purified areas adopt the configuration of fan coil units plus fresh air.
(8) The fourth floor is provided with 3 fresh air units for centralized fresh air supply by zones. The third floor is provided with 1 fresh air unit for centralized fresh air supply.
(9) Exhaust fans are provided independently for each operating room.
IV. Indoor Air Distribution
Class Ⅰ~Ⅳ operating rooms adopt concentrated supply outlets, with air supplied from above and returned from below. The clean corridor, cleaning corridor, and auxiliary rooms use HEPA air supply outlets, with top supply and top return.
