The basic equipment of an operating room refers to the basic facilities provided for a clean operating room that are related to the operating room's floor plan layout and architectural installation, and does not include specialized or movable medical instruments and equipment. Basic equipment is auxiliary equipment indispensable to an operating room during surgery; each item has its corresponding installation position in the operating room rather than being placed arbitrarily in any location, so as to avoid inconvenience during use. Basic equipment refers to the minimum items and quantities to be provided; on this basis, certain accessories such as storage cabinets, storage cupboards, and drawers may be added according to usage needs. When arranged or manufactured, they are often integrated with cabinets, boxes, and the like to form upper-and-lower combined units, so as to avoid appearing cluttered in the room. The contents of the basic equipment are shown in Table 6.1.

The arrangement of the basic equipment in the clean operating room is shown in Figure 6.1. The term "schematic" means that no dimensions are given; some items are actually located at upper and lower positions, but in the figure they are all shown on one level. For example, the lower part of the medicine and instrument cabinets generally houses the return air outlets, socket boxes, equipotential boxes, and so on.
