Clean Operating Department of the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences (Zhuhai)
I. Project Overview
The operating department is located on the fifth floor of the building, with a total of 10 clean operating rooms and 5 general operating rooms. The building area is 2748m². It was put into use on September 3, 2002, and was tested by the Guangdong Provincial Epidemic Prevention Center.
II. Floor Plan Layout
The floor plan type of the clean operating department belongs to the peripheral recovery type. The design concept of this plan type starts from the notion of infection prevention, in which the handling of contaminated items after surgery is of the utmost importance. The design features of this floor plan are:
(1) Before and after surgery, medical staff, patients, sterile instruments, and corresponding auxiliary supplies enter and exit through the central clean corridor, while post-operative waste is transported out through the peripheral corridor, thereby achieving the goal of separating clean and contaminated flows.
(2) The building is square in shape. All 10 clean operating rooms are arranged on the left side of the building; clean auxiliary rooms are arranged on the side adjacent to the clean corridor; waste treatment is set up on the upper side of the building, connected to the contaminated corridor. Other parts are arranged as the changing and shoe-changing area and the office area. In addition, 5 general operating rooms are arranged on the lower side of the building.
(3) Regarding the decorative structure of the clean operating rooms, large arc transitions are adopted between wall and wall, and between wall and ceiling, eliminating airflow dead zones and facilitating the organization of the purified airflow. The wall material is a metal material that does not rust in itself, offering a long service life and good electromagnetic shielding performance.
III. Air Conditioning and Purification System
(1) There are 2 Class I operating rooms, each equipped with one medical hygienic-type air handling unit with a static pressure air supply device; among them, OP7 shares a unit with the Class 100 000 extracorporeal circulation room.
(2) There are 2 Class II operating rooms, each equipped with one medical hygienic-type purification air conditioning unit with a static pressure air supply device.
(3) There are 6 Class III operating rooms; every 3 rooms share one medical hygienic-type purification air conditioning unit with a static pressure air supply device.
(4) The Class 100 000 clean corridor and auxiliary rooms share one medical hygienic-type purification air conditioning unit.
(5) The Class 300 000 cleaning corridor and auxiliary rooms share one medical hygienic-type purification air conditioning unit.
(6) Two fresh air units are installed to supply fresh air centrally.
(7) Exhaust fans are installed independently for each operating room.
IV. Indoor Airflow Organization
Class I–III operating rooms all use centralized air supply outlets, with supply at the top and return at the bottom.
The clean corridor and the cleaning corridor use high-efficiency air supply outlets, with supply at the top and return at the top.
