Medical Multi-functional Gas Pendant
Multi-functional gas pendants come in the following three types.
(1) Heavy-duty electrically lifting gas pendant [Figure 6.11(a)], whose features are:
(a) Heavy-duty electrically lifting gas pendant
(b) Gas pendant for anesthesiology (c) Gas pendant for minimally invasive surgery
Figure 6.11 Multi-functional gas pendants 1) The electric lifting surgical boom DVE808X can be raised and lowered electrically, with a lifting distance of 600mm.
2) Load capacity: 120–200kg.
3) It can rotate around each joint, with a rotation angle of 330 degrees.
4) Single rotating-arm and double rotating-arm pendants are available for selection.
5) It can be used by the anesthesiology department, surgery department and other departments to suspend various anesthesia machines or MIS—minimally invasive endoscopic surgical equipment.
(2) Gas pendant for the anesthesiology department [Figure 6.11(b)], its features are:
1) It provides gases and power supply for anesthesia machines, including the AGSS—anesthetic gas scavenging discharge interface and network interface.
2) It can suspend anesthesia machines and provide a platform for placing anesthesia monitors.
3) Electric or mechanical single-arm or double-arm pendants can be selected (according to the purpose and area of the operating room).
(3) Gas pendant for minimally invasive surgery [Figure 6.11(c)], its features are:
1) It provides gases and power supply for MIS—endoscopic surgical equipment, including the argon gas interface and network interface.
2) It can suspend MIS—endoscopic surgical equipment (such as monitors, insufflators, light sources and cameras), provide a platform for placing instruments, and can also suspend MIS—endoscopic specialty carts.
3) Electric or mechanical single-arm or double-arm pendants can be selected (according to the purpose and area of the operating room).
The multifunctional pendant is an indispensable piece of equipment in the operating room, see Figure 6.11. There are many domestic and foreign manufacturers of pendants, with a wide variety of product forms and specifications, including the vertical lifting type, the rotating type (single-arm, double-arm and multi-arm types), the rotating type with lifting, the single-column and double-column types, etc.; what kind of pendant to install in an operating room should be selected according to the operating room's grade and the surgical content. In an operating room, high-, medium- and low-end configurations should be matched according to specific circumstances, with applicability as the priority; never pursue luxury out of competitive comparison.
The pendant should be equipped with various gas interfaces, power sockets, instrument platforms (hangers), communication devices, waste gas recovery and discharge interfaces, etc.
The pendant should be installed firmly, safely and reliably. See the pendant installation position schematic in Figure 6.12, and the installation schematic in Figure 6.13.
Figure 6.12 Pendant Installation Position
Embed a 450mm×450mm×10mm steel plate at the position where the pendant is to be hoisted, cast into the cement foundation of the ceiling; the steel plate should be welded to the structural reinforcing bars at no fewer than 4 places, and the weld length at each place should be greater than 100mm.
If the ceiling has already been cast without an embedded steel plate, or the ceiling uses component panels, through bolts should be used to fix the embedded steel plate, and also It can be welded directly onto the rebar of the structural member.
Fabricate the swing-arm pendant installation bracket on site. The bracket cross-section is 400mm×400mm, and its height is calculated according to the clear height of the operating room and the actual height of the swing-arm pendant, ensuring that the distance from the bottom of the pendant to the floor is between 1800~1900mm. Weld the mounting plate supplied with the swing-arm pendant onto the bottom surface of the installation bracket.
(Figure notes:)
- Connect the medical gas pipelines as indicated on the nameplate; a service switch may be installed at the connection point before connecting the pipelines
- Adjust the tightness of the stud mounting nut so that the pendant rotates with appropriate force
- Reposition the limit stop so that the pendant service area meets the requirements
- Weld onto the embedded steel plate (or) rebar of the structural member, with a total weld length >1000mm
- Self-fabricated angle-steel bracket 400mm×400mm; angle steel 50mm×50mm×4mm/A3 is recommended
- Connect the two sets of power cords in the order of neutral, earth, and live
- Weld the mounting plate D-08 on the pendant onto the installation bracket
- Adjust the stud length so that the pendant swing arm is level
- Fix the cover angle plate onto the ceiling panel, and fix the cover onto the angle plate
- Ceiling opening: minimum 360mm×360mm, maximum 390mm×390mm
(Dimension annotations in the figure: ceiling; 230; distance from bracket bottom to floor; tower body height; 1800mm)

The installation location must be on the ceiling above the side adjacent to the head of the operating table; it must not be installed at the doorway of the operating room where it would obstruct passage; otherwise, not only will it be inconvenient for the anesthesiologist to operate, but many temporary pipes will also have to be added on the floor.
