Project Overview
For this operating-room purification project, the walls and ceiling were constructed as one continuous electrolytic steel clean envelope. At every wall-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall junction, a factory-formed R300 mm (R30) curved electrolytic-steel panel provides a smooth one-piece transition instead of the conventional 90-degree internal/external corner. Combined with fully embedded medical equipment and hermetic OR doors, the design systematically eliminates the classic weaknesses of square-cornered operating rooms — dirt-trapping gaps, turbulent airflow and poor airtightness.
Why the R30 Coved Electrolytic-Steel System?
1. No Cleaning Dead Corners — Easy to Clean and Disinfect
The smooth R30 cove between wall and ceiling removes the right-angle seam where dirt, dust and water mist accumulate in conventional rooms. The dense, smooth, non-porous coating can be wiped repeatedly with chlorine-based disinfectants, supporting the high-frequency disinfection regime of an operating room and reducing the risk of cross-infection.2. Smoother Airflow for a More Stable Cleanliness Class
Square corners create eddies and stagnant, dust-holding zones that disturb laminar airflow. The rounded transition lets the laminar supply air sweep smoothly across the room with minimal turbulence, helping the operating room hold its cleanliness classification stably and protecting the sterile field.
3. Fully Embedded Equipment — a Complete, Unbroken Envelope
Every fitting is recessed flush into the electrolytic-steel wall: instrument cabinets, medicine cabinets, warming and refrigeration cabinets, the air-pressure and temperature control panel, the X-ray film viewer and all medical-gas terminals. Nothing protrudes from the wall surface, so the continuity of the clean envelope is preserved, dust-catching details are eliminated and the whole room can be wiped down quickly.

4. Hermetic Operating-Room Doors for Reliable Airtightness
The rooms are fitted with automatic and manual hermetic medical doors. When closed they seal reliably, blocking infiltration of contaminated corridor air, maintaining the positive-pressure environment inside the OR and keeping the clean-to-cleanroom pressure differential stable.5. Stable, Durable Material Performance
The electrolytic steel panels are finished with an electrostatically sprayed antibacterial coating that is Class A fire-rated, impact-resistant, moisture-proof, mould-proof and anti-static. Panels are prefabricated as modules and assembled on site with sealed joints, giving excellent airtightness while making future inspection, maintenance and modification straightforward.6. A Unified, Modern Appearance
Wall, cove and ceiling are formed as a single continuous surface with soft, regular lines that match the visual standards of a modern hospital. All services and pipework can be concealed in the cavity behind the panels, leaving the room surface completely free of exposed conduits.
